Harvest Celebration
The month of October marks the Harvest Celebration here in the Zuni Pueblo. This celebration entails a social dance where the pueblo gets together in a celebration of color and community. Young boys and men are awarded ceremonial rattles for dancing and Zuni's own Gilbert Bowannie expertly crafted these beautiful one-of-a-kind rattles. Learn more about the Zuni Harvest Dance in this video from PBS Learning.
Check out some great footage from last year's celebration!
In honor of the harvest, we are have marked down our entire basket collection, which includes gorgeous vintage hand-woven Pima, Tohono O'odham and Hopi works. Traditionally, these baskets were used for sifting seeds and collecting food. These baskets combine the material, spiritual, and aesthetic worlds, blending beauty with usefulness.
