A Hopi Silversmith, Floyd Lomakuyvaya is held in high regard for his signature overlay style. Lomakuyvaya has been making jewelry since 1973, he is a member of the Strap Clan and his hallmark is an Antelope rattle. Lomakuyvaya is also well known for his involvement in the Barbara Chester Award, which is granted annually to an individual or group who has made an exceptional stand against torture. Floyd Lomakuyvaya handcrafted the award which is bestowed to the benefactor- a handcrafted silver eagle feather sculpture featuring Hopi symbolism for healing and qa tutsawinvu – “freedom from fear of intimidation from any source.”
