This Silver Overlay Pendant, by Hopi Artist Joe Josytewa is a striking Teardrop Shape. The main oval of the Pendant features the Hopi Kokopelli; an animate humpbacked flute player. This figure is characteristic of Hopi mythology and symbolises fertility, trickery and the spirit of music. A small, darkened triangle to the top of the Pendant adds extra detail and completes the design.
Like most fertility deities, the Hopi Kokopelli presides over both childbirth and agriculture. This is the idea piece for the family- inclined individual, perhaps who wishes to fall pregnant, or is moving location to provide a better environment for their family.
Josytewa is recognised for his precise technique and the darkened Silver of the piece is etched in his typically uniform style.
